Before you start

This guide is for a 100% off coupon that includes both Znip for Mac and Znip Cloud. Both products should show Free. If your offer is different, ask the person who sent it.

You’ll need your invite link or coupon code, access to your email, and a Mac with Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later.

Your email is your account. There’s no separate profile form to fill in. Sign in with an email code. Use that same email for both checkouts and in Znip.

First, use your coupon

  1. Step 1: Open your invite link.

Open the link the Znip team or your friend sent you. The Coupon code field should already be filled in.

Only have a code? Open the coupon page in a new tab and paste it into Coupon code before you sign in.

Keep the invite tab open. You’ll return to it after each checkout.

  2. Step 2: Sign in with your email.

Enter your Email address and click Send sign-in code. Open your email, copy the eight-digit code, return to the invite tab, paste it into Code from your email, and click Sign in.

The email sign-in code is different from your coupon code. It expires after 10 minutes. If your invite is for a specific email, use that address.

  3. Step 3: Click Use code.

Under Your Znip access, check that Znip for Mac and Znip Cloud both show Free.

You still need to finish both checkouts below. Using the code alone does not activate the app or Cloud.

Next, finish both free checkouts

Two products means two checkouts. Each checkout opens in a new tab on Polar, our checkout service. Keep the original invite tab open.

  1. Step 4: Get your free Mac app license.

In the Znip for Mac card, click Get the Mac app free. Wait for the link, then click Continue to free checkout.

In the new Polar tab, keep the same email, complete any required details shown, and finish checkout. The total must be zero. This free offer needs no card or payment setup.

If the total is not zero, or you’re asked to pay, stop and email hey@znip.app.

  2. Step 5: Return and refresh your access.

Go back to the original invite tab and click Refresh access. The Mac app should show Already active — no checkout needed.

If it is still processing, wait a moment and refresh again. There’s no need to start another order.

  3. Step 6: Get your free Cloud membership.

In the Znip Cloud card, click Get Cloud free, then Continue to free checkout. Finish this second checkout in its new tab. Again, check that the total is zero.

Return to the invite tab and click Refresh access. Both products should now be active.

If a product already says Already active — no checkout needed, skip its checkout.

Download and install Znip

  1. Step 7: Download from your invite page.

In the original invite tab, find Get started on your Mac and click Download Znip for Mac. Your browser downloads Znip.dmg. Look in your Mac’s Downloads folder.

The download button can appear before your orders are complete. Finish both free checkouts first. The public Request an invite page is not your download page.

  2. Step 8: Drag Znip into Applications.

Open Znip.dmg. In the window that opens, drag the Znip icon onto the Applications folder.

    Znip
    Applications
Drag the Znip app icon onto the Applications folder.

Open Finder → Applications → Znip. After it opens, you can eject the Znip disk image in Finder.

Open the copy in Applications, rather than running the app from the installer window.

Sign in and activate your Mac

  1. Step 9: Sign in inside Znip.

Click Account in Znip’s left sidebar. Enter the same email you used for both checkouts and click Continue with email.

Check your inbox for a new eight-digit code. Enter it in Znip, then click Sign in.

Use a fresh code for the app. Your earlier website sign-in code will not work here.

  2. Step 10: Activate this Mac.

In Account, click Restore purchases if your purchases have not appeared. Then click Activate this Mac….

In Your Macs, keep This Mac as its name or enter a name you recognize. Click Activate this Mac, then Done.

If you already see Manage Macs…, this Mac is activated. One license can be active on up to two Macs.

Check Cloud, then choose how to share

  1. Step 11: Check that Cloud is connected.

Click Znip Cloud in the left sidebar. With your free Cloud plan active, signing in connects it automatically. Look for Connected and the 10GB storage card.

If it has not connected, choose Account → Restore purchases and return to Znip Cloud. If you still see Connect your Cloud plan, click Sign in to Znip and check that you used the same email. If Cloud already shows Connected, click Refresh to update its details.

  2. Step 12: Choose manual or automatic uploads.

For manual sharing, take a screenshot and click its Upload button. Once it finishes, the button becomes Copy link. Click it and paste the link into a message.

Want this to happen for new captures? In Znip Cloud, turn on Auto-upload & copy link. This is optional. New screenshots and finished recordings will upload and copy their links.

Anyone with a shared link can view that capture unless you protect it. Keep auto-upload off when taking private screenshots. macOS may ask for screen-recording permission when you first capture; camera and microphone permissions are only needed for those features.

You’re ready when…

  • The invite page shows both products active.
  • Znip opens from Applications.
  • Account shows this Mac is activated.
  • Znip Cloud shows Connected.

You now have the Mac app and Cloud sharing. Try one screenshot and send its link to yourself.

A few useful answers

Will Cloud become paid after a year?

This 100% Cloud offer stays free on annual renewal while the same subscription stays active. It is not a free trial that turns into a paid plan. Check the renewal details shown at checkout. You can stop renewal in Account → Manage billing.

What does the coupon’s expiry date mean?

Finish both free checkouts before the coupon expires. Claiming it alone does not keep an expired code usable for a new checkout. A Cloud subscription you already activated keeps its agreed price.

I closed the invite tab. What now?

Open your original invite link again. Sign in with the same email and click Use code, then Refresh access. Your existing claim is kept. A product that is already active does not need another checkout.

My email code hasn’t arrived.

Check spam and make sure the email is spelled correctly. Email codes last 10 minutes. Request a fresh one if needed. Your coupon code goes in Coupon code; the eight-digit email code is only for signing in.

My code is unavailable or one product is missing.

Check that the coupon includes both products and is meant for your email. It may have expired or reached its use limit. Ask the person who sent it, or email hey@znip.app. A completed checkout may need a moment before Refresh access shows it.

The app says I’ve used both Mac slots.

Open Account → Activate this Mac…, or Manage Macs… if this Mac is already active. In Your Macs, deactivate a Mac you no longer use, then activate this one. If you need help choosing the right device, contact support.

I already pay for Znip. Will this refund my purchase?

The coupon does not refund an earlier purchase or change an existing paid subscription. Contact support before starting another subscription.
