Znip / support
A little help. Back to work.
Start here for capture permissions, keyboard shortcuts, exports, and account and payment questions.
Report a bug in a few clicks.
Open Znip and choose Report a bug in the sidebar or Help → Report a Bug. Tell us what you were doing and what went wrong. Add your email if you would like a reply. You will get a report reference when it sends.
Your captures are never attached automatically. If sending fails, your text stays in the report window so you can retry. You can also email hey@znip.app.
Sign in and activate.
Already invited or have a license? Open Account in the app and sign in with the same email used at checkout. Enter the eight-digit email code. Your purchase appears automatically. Choose Activate this Mac to unlock screenshots, recording, imports and editing. After activation, these tools work offline without a Cloud plan. Use Manage Macs to release an old activation before moving to another Mac. One license covers two Macs.
Receipts and license keys are in your customer portal. If your invitation includes Cloud, use the same email and restore purchases in Znip.
Black or empty capture?
Enable Znip in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. Quit and reopen Znip after changing permission, then try a small area capture.
Shortcut not responding?
Make sure Znip is running. Check for a shortcut used by another app or macOS, then choose another combination in Znip’s settings.
See the default shortcutsNo sound or camera image?
Check the recording options and the relevant macOS Microphone or Camera permission. Record a short test clip to check your selected inputs.
Upload and copy links automatically.
Open Znip Cloud and turn on Auto-upload new captures. Each new screenshot or completed recording uploads, then its shareable link is copied to your clipboard. Screenshots upload before editing; share an edited version manually when you need redactions or annotations. Imports, pasted images, and existing captures do not upload automatically.
Turn Auto-upload off anytime. Failed uploads leave your local capture intact; open Znip Cloud to retry.
Cloud full or a recording too large?
Cloud includes 10GB of storage, with up to 1GB per recording and 50MB per image. Delete hosted captures to free space, or trim a recording and export it as MP4. Your local originals stay on your Mac.
Billing and cancellation.
Choose Account → Manage billing in Znip, or open the customer portal. View receipts, update your payment method, or cancel Cloud renewal anytime. Cloud remains active through the paid period.
