01What is Znip?

Znip is a Mac screenshot and screen recording app with editing and file-sharing tools. Take screenshots, record your screen, add context, and share an image, video, or GIF to give feedback, report bugs, or explain a task.

02Can I download it yet?

Not yet. Znip is being tested before its public release. The editor shown on this page is from the working Mac app. Downloads and checkout will open when the release is ready.

03What does the $19 price include?

The planned launch price is $19 USD, paid once for the Mac app. It includes screenshots, screen recording, editing tools, text recognition, and a local library. You will not need a subscription for these features.

04How do I share screenshots and recordings?

Copy a screenshot and paste it into a message or document. Export a screen recording as an MP4 video or GIF, then attach the file wherever you share. These tools are included in the Mac app. Sharing by hosted link will be a separate, optional cloud feature, planned for later.

05Do I need the cloud plan?

No. You can save captures on your Mac, copy them into messages, and export files without cloud hosting. The optional $12/year plan is planned for later: it will let you upload selected captures and share them with a link, with 10GB of storage and usage limits.

06Where are my captures stored?

On your Mac. The current preview saves screenshots and recordings locally and recognizes text on-device. It does not upload your captures. Optional cloud sharing will require you to choose what to upload.

07Which Macs will it work on?

The current preview runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs and older versions of macOS are not supported by this preview.
