Choose Report a bug in the Znip sidebar or Help → Report a Bug. Describe what happened and optionally add a reply email. The form shows the app and macOS versions it sends. It does not attach captures or logs. You receive a reference after sending; failures keep your text so you can retry.

Znip is meant to be your everyday capture app with editing and sharing built in. You can still use Apple’s tools. Most people pick one main shortcut set and stick to it.

The default global shortcuts use Control + Shift + Command: 4 for area, 5 for window, 3 for display, 2 for text / QR, R for display recording, and 6 for vertical scrolling capture. See Keyboard shortcuts for the full list. You can change them in Znip.

They save in Znip’s local library under ~/Library/Application Support/Znip/Library. Copy or export a file when you want to share. Editable projects keep the original image so you can change your annotations later.

Yes. Set a screenshot delay in the capture settings, then capture an area, window, or display. This gives you time to open a menu or show a hover state.

Yes. Capture vertically or horizontally. Choose automatic scrolling or scroll manually while Znip joins the views. Automatic scrolling requires Accessibility permission and works best with stable, scrollable pages.

The clean-desktop capture option excludes desktop clutter from the captured image and can use a plain or custom background. It does not change your desktop settings. Compatibility across apps and macOS versions is still being checked.

Yes. Screen recording is part of the Mac app for demos, walkthroughs, and bug reports.

Yes. Choose microphone and system audio separately in the recording options. Grant the relevant macOS permissions and record a short clip to check your selected inputs.

Znip can show clicks while recording. Keystroke overlays are not included.

Yes. Add zoom regions in the recording editor, or use recorded clicks to create zooms. Enable editable cursor capture before recording to adjust cursor motion afterward.

Yes. Pause and resume from the recording controls. You can also restart a take after confirmation or trim its start and end afterward.

No max length is published on the site. Everyday bug clips are usually short. Any limit will appear in release notes.

Mark step 1, 2, and 3 on the image so a how-to is easy to follow.

Solid blocks cover parts of the image before you copy or export. Check that the full secret is covered. Share the exported image, not the editable project, which retains the original content.

Znip has pixelation as well as solid blocks. Blur is not implemented. Use a solid block for sensitive text; pixelation is a visual effect and should not be treated as secure redaction.

Modern macOS capture APIs often use the same permission for stills and video. That is normal. Files still stay local unless you upload later.

No. Text and QR recognition run on your Mac. Znip Cloud stores only the captures you choose to upload for sharing; it does not train AI on them.
